I’m sure nearly ALL of you have heard of GUESS! I just got the chance to mingle with some sexy ladies two weeks in a row thanks to GUESS! 2012 marks 30 Sexy Years for GUESS and to commemorate this, GUESS launched a 19-piece 30th Anniversary Capsule collection, re-launching of some of the iconic designs from the last 30 years. Now GUESS fans get to own a piece of history!
[E.g. Marilyn Jeans: first ever pair of jeans that kick-started the GUESS brand/sold out within 2 hours/Was a very special fusion of American and European style that helped to reignite the denim industry in the USA] Check it out below (model on extreme left):
GUESS stores in Ngee Ann City and Ion Orchard were transformed into full-fledged fashion runways (with the help of really cool lighting, professional models, and runway experts). Professional models showcased some great pieces from the capsule collection (as you’ll see more of in the pictures below!). The in-store fashion show was a highly interactive way to bring a taste of fashion right to the consumer, I mean, imagine considering buying something and then watching a model strut around in it right before your eyes. I’d buy it for sure, haha.
The runway shows were definitely a crowd stopper (I had friends text me to say they were stuck in a ‘human jam’ at the Ngee Ann City underpass, yay to that! ). I mean I’m sure the men stopped because they were really interested in fashion. Riiiiight guys?
Anyway, it wasn’t just a fashion show alone. There was a L’Oreal Paris Cosmetics makeover team, Instant Photography by professional photographers with photos printed on the spot and Opportunities to win Exclusive invites to the upcoming GUESS 30th Anniversary Party in July (who’s going?!).
I’ve worked on a couple of fashion shows before but this is the first time I watched what really happens behind the scenes! Usually I just show up and do my thang, this time round however I got to see what it’s like to choreograph an entire fashion show (it is tough!), how to build the entire runway (put up the lights, sounds, etc), how much assistance is actually required to cue models (I figured they just you know, walked) so it was definitely an eye-opener!
Anyway, this event was rather special for me because my brother is a huge fan of GUESS and owns loads of GUESS jeans, and shirts. Growing up, I pretty much turned to him for all my clothing choices so this played a heavy part in influencing my taste in fashion! I’m happy to see GUESS staying true to it’s sexy brand after all these years! Dear GUESS, here’s wishing you another 30 Sexy Years! It was a honour being a part of your celebrations!
PS: How ’bout an invite to that 30th Anniversary Party in July?
I mean c’monnn, 27 Sexy Years of Me… I made the cut to get some party papers right??? Here’s proof!
